Beginning in the Fall of 2012, Manheim Central was selected as one of 58 educational agencies in Pennsylvania to participate in the "Keystones to Opportunity" grant for striving readers. The program represents a broad approach by the federal government to improving literacy outcomes for children from Birth through Grade 12. As one of only six states to receive funding, Pennsylvania was awarded $38.6 million by the U.S. Department of Education. The award will support the first year of the grant. Funding for years 2-5 depend on the availability of federal funds.
The Keystones to Opportunity Grant specifically seeks to support Pennsylvania’s comprehensive approach to improving literacy outcomes for all children, including disadvantaged students, limited English proficient students and students with disabilities.
